At the recent May meeting the new Bemidji Curling Club Board met for the first time. A big thanks to outgoing Board members Josh Bahr, Harry Vollen and Chase Jackson, and a welcome to new Board members Lanny Cyr, Brad Johnson and Pete Harrison. Our 2013-2014 officers are; Rob Aitken – President, Lanny Cyr – Vice President, Eric Fenson – Treasurer, and Randy Baird – Secretary.

Bemidji Curling Club End of Year Party

It’s that time of year, the Bemidji Curling Club end of year party is right around the corner! Join us Saturday, March 30 starting at 5:30. Fozzie’s Smokin’ Bar-B-Q will be serving up pulled pork and fixingswith a potluck dessert (bring one to share!). The bar will be selling beer for $1!

Dinner is free for members and $5 for guests. Please shoot us an email letting us know you plan to attend (webmaster@bemidjicurling.org).

Workin Wins Paul Bunyan International Bonspiel

The team of Evan Workin, Tyler Runing, Jesse
Jaeger and Spencer Tuscowski were the First Event champions in the
final of the Paul Bunyan International Men’s Bonspiel on Sunday
afternoon defeating the Mclaren rink from Winnipeg, MB. Workin
defeated the Bahr team in the semifinal to advance, and Mclaren
beat the Scott rink to advance. Other event results:
2nd Event: Bryngelson defeats
Trentberth 3rd Event: Bergstrom
defeats Andrews 4th Event: Gospodyn
defeats Gene Robertson A big thanks to all the participants. We

Bemidji Juniors Successful in Kyle Satrom B Division

The Kyle Satrom Memorial Bonspiel enjoyed its 20th successful year this February 9-10 while the St. Paul Curling Club was celebrating their 100th year anniversary. Donn and Linda Satrom were the consummate hosts of 128 curlers (and many parents) representing 14 cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Bemidji Junior team of (top R-L) Noah Leinen, Zach Suther, Hunter Miller and Wyatt Walton captured the Novice Division Championship Trophy by going 4-1 overall and by successfully battling the Moore Rink out of Mapleton, Minnesota in a 6-5 nail biter for the title. Their next stop is the Can-Am Bonspiel in Grand Forks, ND on February 23-24. Also bringing home hardware were the 2nd Event winners (Middle R-L) Emily Quello, Aaron Bennett, Zach Erickson, and Mackenzie Ritchie and the 4rd Event winners (Bottom R-L) Tyra Langhout, Leah Yavarow, Katie Sanford, and Hope Puro.

Fenner and Fenson Headed to Russia

The Korey Dropkin rink captured the 2013 Junior Men’s National Championship at the Broomstones Curling Club this past week. Bemidji’s Mark Fenner and Alex Fenson anchored the front end as the team lost only one match on their way to the title. Their next stop is the Junior World Championship in Sochi, Russia starting on February 28. Congratulations boys!

Team Willmert Wins 2013 Men’s State Club Championship

The St. Paul foursome of Mark Willmert, Chris Dolan, Tim Jeanetta and Brian Sparstad completed their sweep of the field on Sunday to win the Minnesota Men’s Club Championship. They will compete for the National title at the Exmoor Curling Club in Illinois March 2-9.

Fenner and Fenson Competing in Junior Nationals

The United State Junior National Curling Championship begins this weekend at the Broomstones Curling Club in Wayland, Massachusetts. Bemidji junior curlers Mark Fenner and Alex Fenson are members of the Korey Dropkin rink and will be competing to represent the United States in the World Junior Championship in Sochi, Russia.
